Come and enjoy a day workshop at Yoga Reading with Helen Gevaux and Katia Major. We’ll show you how to safely and effectively add strength into your weekly movement routine, without needing a gym membership or loads of 'kit'.
Helen started strength training over 10 years to rehab a shoulder injury and complement martial arts training and yoga practice. Her experience spans conventional weight lifting, calisthenics, and bodyweight and minimalist training. She is a yoga and acroyoga teacher, Thai massage therapist, and qualified personal trainer.
Katia formally started training at the age of 16, first with running and then with weights (through what is now known as CrossFit) and has always found that a combination of strength and flexibility provide her body with a sense of maximum comfort and ease. She is a clinical soft tissue therapist, yoga teacher, level 3 personal trainer and qualified to be able to prescribe exercise for rehabilitation.

In this immersive workshop you will:
Develop a deeper understanding of the benefits of strength training
Learn how to choose exercises to complement your current yoga or other movement practice
Explore how and when to modify and progress exercises for maximum results
Get ‘hands on’ (and a bit sweaty!) with some common types of equipment
Discover how easily you can create a strength training environment at home
Create your personal plan for building strength training into your week, without needing to go to the gym or get loads of kit!
The day includes two movement sessions, as well as interactive sessions on the ‘how and why’ of strength training and how to build your own programme. It will be paced to allow time for rest between movement and will conclude with an effective relaxation. A delicious vegetarian lunch will be provided (vegan option available).
